NYSP Paint Project at the Queens State of the Borough Address- January 21, 2016

We were pleased and honored to be included onstage with Queens Borough President Melinda Katz for her State of the Borough Address! Melinda used such kind words to make mention of the Paint Project and called on Johnny and Mitch to stand for applause; we thank her very much! Moments like these make all of our hard work very worth it. See below for photos! (courtesy of Stephanie Bohn and queensbp.org)

From the section of transcript where we were mentioned: "Another major ongoing public works project has been the restoration efforts of the New York State Pavilion in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. This iconic, architectural marvel had fallen into disrepair due to decades of neglect. Some even dismissively referred to it as 'The Ruins.' For years, even when no one else wanted anything to do with it, volunteers of the New York State Pavilion Painting Project did their best to upkeep at least the base of the Pavilion. Let’s extend a round of applause to John Piro and Mitchell Silverstein for their perseverance and keeping the dream alive."
